TYPES OF POTATO PRODUCTS PACKAGING
Potatoes can be packed in paper, plastic, aluminum or mesh bags. And sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging is increasingly introduced in the potato industry. The different types of potato products packaging are flexible, rigid and vacuum packaging. The flexible and rigid packaging are tested using the vacuum decay method.
- Flexible packaging: Flexible potato packaging includes pouches filled with potato slices, pieces and cubes or fresh fries. Also, for example, bags filled with potato powder, are covered by flexible packaging.
- Rigid packaging: Fresh sliced potatoes, mashed potatoes or seasoned potatoes can be packed in aluminum or plastic trays with sealing on top. It is also possible to pack potatoes in cans. This type of packaging ensures the longest shelf life. These cans are filled with, for example, peeled potatoes or slices of sweet potatoes.
- Vacuum packaging: Potatoes are sometimes packed in vacuum packaging. For example, baby potatoes or potato slices can be vacuumed.

The Stationary Leak Tester is used for your flexible potato product packaging. The packaging is placed between two rubber membranes. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER XS & M
Rigid potato products packaging is tested in the Stationary Leak Tester XS or M. Specially for this packaging, a custom-made insert is created in the exact form of your packaging. The product is placed between the custom-made insert and one flexible membrane. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

CAN LEAK TESTER
The Can Leak Tester is developed for products in cans, such as cans filled with potatoes. With this machine, a bell jar containing a flexible rubber membrane in the same form as the can, drops down over the packaging. Then, a vacuum is created in the surrounding space. When it find a leak, this is shown by a change in the pressure in the measurint bell jar. Because of the non-destructive way of testing, the packaging stays intact.

VACUUM-SEALED LEAK TESTER
The Vacuum-Sealed Leak Tester is the solution to test vacuum-sealed packaging containing solid products with moisture and a minimum of air inside. The vacuumed potato product is tested in this leak detector. The VSLT has a built-in vessel and a vacuum pump, which creates a deep vacuum in the test chamber with a very small measuring space around the potato packaging. This solution allows the leak tester to detect both micro leaks and bigger leaks. It can test different packaging shapes and sizes, because custom-made inserts are created in the exact size of your packaging.
