Rixona is a leading producer of dried potato products, such as potato granules and flakes. This food products subsidiary of Aviko turns over more than 70 million euros.
In total there are eleven different production and packaging lines that produce 75,000 tonnes of granules and flakes. Rixona potato products can be found all around the world with ninety percent of production being exported.
“Quality is the top priority within the company and thus it is crucial for the packaging to be airtight and leak free. Immediately after packaging it needs to be clear that the highest possible quality standards are met. With this in mind, Rixona had spent a long time searching for a very accurate method to replace the old leak detection method.”
XXS to XXXL
The dimensions of the packaging ranges in size enormously; the company has a large range of different packages. The smallest retail soft packs weight just 59 grammes; the largest atmospheric packages used for processing in the food service sector and the food industry weigh between 5 and 25 kg.
After a successful test period, Rixona decided to purchse the stand alone leak detection solutions offered by Oxipack. The standard equipment was fine for the smaller packages and for the largest of packages a tailor made version was produced.
The production system is now capable of rapidly and accurately testing the packaging for leaks.Thus is ensured that remedial work and rejects are limited to a minimum while the quality is constantly maintained at a high level. At this moment the leak testers have been running successfully for more than 7 years.
