LEAK DETECTION
Quality, safety and hygiene are very important requirements with the production of beverages. A product is no longer usable when the smell and taste changes. Hygiene can deteriorate significantly when the production line is contaminated by the contents of a leaking beverage packaging. Therefore, a beverage packaging must be leak tight.

The leak detection solutions are testing on leaks in a non-destructive way, which means that your products stay undamaged and don’t have to be destroyed after testing. When no leak is found, your product can put back into the production line. This way, big savings are made on testing costs, products are less likely to be returned later in the chain, production waste reduces, water eliminates in the production environment and accurate and traceable measuring results are made.
TYPES OF BEVERAGE PACKAGING
The packaging of beverages is very important to remain the quality, safety and hygiene. It is packaged in two different ways, flexible packaging and rigid packaging. The vacuum decay method is used for testing flexible and rigid beverage packaging.
- Flexible packaging: Flexible beverage packaging includes a doypack with a drinking spout and flexible drinking packages with a straw.
- Rigid packaging: Many beverages come in rigid packaging. For example, a can of lemonade syrup, bottles of beer, bottles filled with healthy drinks and small breakfast drinks. For these packages, the bottles themselves or the caps can be tested separately.
BEVERAGE PACKAGING LEAK DETECTION MACHINES
Different leak detection methods are used for these different types of packaging. These can test whole bottles, the top of bottles or only caps. It differs per producer what is desirable.
BOTTLE LEAK TESTER (BLT)
The Bottle Leak Tester is used to test bottles and caps on leaks. The tester uses pressure difference as leak testing method. The BLT embraces the top of the bottle and checks if there are any leaks in the top or seal, sometimes with a FDA approved membrane, sometimes with a cap.

BOTTLE LEAK TESTER FOR TESTING MULTIPLE BOTTLES (Multiple BLT)
The Bottle Leak Tester for multiple bottles works the same as the Bottle Leak Tester, but is able tot test up to 10 bottles per cycle. Also, the Bottle Leak Tester is only checking for leaks in the top of the bottle, while this version is able to test the entire bottle for leaks.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER XS & M
Some rigid beverage packaging is tested in the Stationary Leak Tester XS or M. For these packaging, a custom-made insert is created in the exact form of the cap. The packaging is placed between a flexible membrane and the custom-made insert, were several caps can be tested at the same time. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER
Flexible beverage packaging without liquid is often tested in the Stationary Leak Tester. The flexible packaging, often called pouches, are placed between the two flexible membranes. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

IN-LINE BEVERAGE PACKAGING TESTING
Besides the abovementioned stand-alone machines, we can also develop an in-line solution for your beverage packaging. An in-line machinery is able to detect leaks at random, fully and 100%. Our in-line solution can not only test the top of bottles, but also the entire bottle for leaks.
