TYPES OF VEGAN & VEGETARIAN food PACKAGING
Vegan and vegetarian food is mostly packed in trays or vacuum films. Sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging is also often used lately. The different packaging types are flexible packaging, rigid packaging and vacuum packaging. The vacuum decay method is used for flexible and rigid packaging.
- Flexible packaging: Vegan or vegetarian products are sometimes packed in flexible packaging. For example, vegetarian sausages or meat substitutes such as chicken and mince. Also vegan cheese or beans are packed in flexible pouches.
- Rigid packaging: Vegan or vegetarian food is often packed in trays, such as meat substitutes. Among others, different kinds of burgers, sausages, minced meat, all as a substitute for real meat. But also tofu and other vegetable food is packed in trays with sealing on top. Rigid packaging also includes cans filled with vegan or vegetarian food.
- Vacuum packaging: Vacuum packed vegan or vegetarian food includes vacuumed vegetarian sausages or vegan meatballs, feta and haloumi.

Because the packaging of vegan and vegetarian food must remain an as long as possible shelf-life, leak detection is very helpful. For the different types of packaging, different leak detection solutions are developed.
STATIONARY LEAK TESTER
Our standard Stationary Leak Tester is used for flexible packaging. The packaging is placed between two flexible membranes. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER XS & M
Some rigid packaging, such as trays, are tested in the Stationary Leak Tester XS or M. Specially for this packaging, a custom-made insert is created in the exact form of your packaging. The packaging is placed between the insert and a flexible membrane. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a small measuring area without damaging the packaging. This unique measuring method is able to detect both micro leaks and large leaks, without having to change any settings.

CAN LEAK TESTER
The Can Leak Tester is used to test canned vegan and vegetarian food. The CLT uses pressure difference to test for leaks and for every can, a special rubber membrane is created, which mirrors the form of the can. A bel jar containing the flexible rubber membrane drops down over the packaging. A vacuum is created in the surrounding space. When the can has a leak, this is shown by the change in pressure in the measuring bell jar.

VACUUM-SEALED LEAK TESTER
The Vacuum-Sealed Leak Tester is the solution for finding leaks in vacuum-sealed vegan and vegetarian packaging with moisture and minimum of air inside. The VSLT has a built-in vessel and vacuum pump, which create a deep vacuum in the test chamber with a very small measuring space around the packaging. The leak tester can test different packaging shapes and sizes because of the custom-made exchangeable cavity blocks.
