These leak detector machines are testing packaging in a non-destructive way, which means your packaging stays undamaged and don’t have to be destroyed after testing. Your product can directly put back into the production line, if no leak is found. This way, a lot of testing costs can be saved, products are less likely to be returned later in the chain, production waste reduces, water in the production environment eliminates and accurate and traceable measuring results are made.

Ready meals are mostly packed in sealed rigid trays, but sometimes also in flexible packaging. Both types of packaging are tested by using the vacuum decay leak detection method.
- Rigid packaging: Ready meals are mostly packed in rigid packaging, such as trays with sealing on top. For example, ready-to-eat meals with different containers, meals in round packaging and salads. More and more often, these kinds of trays are made of sustainable and environmental friendly materials. Also rigid packaging such as cans are sometimes filled with ready meals.
- Flexible packaging: Flexible ready meal packaging includes ready-to-eat pizza’s, or for example ready dishes packed in pouches.

CAN LEAK TESTER
The Can Leak Tester is the perfect solution for canned ready meals. The CLT uses pressure differences to test for leaks. With this model, a bell jar containing a flexible rubber membrane in the same form as the can, drops down over the packaging. A vacuum is then created in the surrounding space. If the can has a leak, this is shown by a change in the pressure in the measuring bell jar.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER XS & M
Some rigid ready meal packaging is tested in the Stationary Leak Tester XS or M. For this packaging, a custom-made insert is created in the exact form of the packaging. It is placed between the insert and a flexible membrane. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a very small measuring area without damaging the packaging. With this unique measuring method, you can detect both micro leaks and large leaks without having to change any settings.

STATIONARY LEAK TESTER
Flexible ready meal packaging is tested in the Stationary Leak Tester. The packaging is placed between two flexible membranes. After closing the lid, a deep vacuum is created in the test chamber. This creates a very small measuring area without damaging the packaging. With this unique measuring method, you can detect both micro leaks and large leaks without having to change any settings.

IN-LINE READY MEAL PACKAGING TESTING
It is also possible to develop an in-line leak detection solution for your ready meal packaging. The only difference with the stand-alone solutions, is that your packaging is tested within your production line. Our in-line solutions are able to detect leaks at random, fully automatically or 100%. For example, we developed the Rotary to test your flexible ready meal packaging, which is able to test up to 120 individual packages per minute.
