The Oxipack Centre of Expertise was contacted by the Technical manager of the largest European producer of dishwashing tablets and accessories. The end customer has the highest quality standards and wanted to be sure their custom-made dishwasher discs are 100% leak tight.
The biggest challenge in this project was the fact that these discs had a very specific shape with a dosing system which needed to be covered in a custom-made shape. After thorough investigations, a prototype was built by the Centre of Expertise, demonstrating the options for accurate and non-destructive leak detection of these discs. The customer purchased 2 leak testers for non-destructive testing of these discs. The end-customer was happy with the results and came up with a new challenge for the Oxipack Engineers: “What pressure will cause these seals to burst?”
Oxipack once again accepted the challenge and designed a new tester which combined the features of the leak tester, and a three-step burst tester for these discs. The three steps burst tester allows the customer to apply three levels of pressure to see what happens to the discs: light pressure, moderate pressure and pressure until the breaking point of the discs to see where the weak points are.
This allows the end-customer to meet their promise of the highest quality product on the market for dishwashers.
In the meantime, the customer has asked the Oxipack Centre of Expertise whether they can test a new generation of dishwashing pods and the first results look promising. To be continued…
